I really like point number 18 about adding value to conversations, and find that starting a debate on industry problems can be a serious traffic driver. Better still if you can spot something in the industry that is wrong which no one is talking about and focus on it, then it's a great way to get traffic and a ton of links as other places continue the debate.

Respect other websites. People get very annoyed when it's clear that someone is using their website solely to promote a different site. If you're going to blog walk, make thoughtful comments on articles you found interesting. If you're posting in forums, read the rules and participate in discussions. Don't post just to get another link to your blog out there.
When I’m doing research for a piece I’m going to write, I’ll send emails out to influencers who are authorities in the area I’m writing about. I’ll ask them for a quote to include in the blog post, and ask them a single question – this is how I do it, if you’re interested. I don’t worry too much about non-responses or rejections, because as long as a few of them write back, I’ve got a solid contribution for my post. Because they’re authority figures, it not only lends the article credibility, but if they happen to share the post, I’ll get exposure to their audience as well.

Here’s my thinking on why I give away templates like this that other people charge for. The power of beautiful, usable, professional design can't be overstated. When readers look at a blog, the first thing they judge is how it "feels" from a design and UX perspective. You’ll all be working together to drive traffic to your website for the summit, and you’ll want to consider some sort of list share or revenue share after the event wraps up.

Best investment I ever made was to hire a proof reader to check a post before I publish it. I also use a good quality grammar tool. Grammar and spelling issues is an absolute “website killer”. I like #15. It's great to keep writing and publishing content, but it's vital you get out there and meet people, spread the word about what you're doing. People like people, not just blog posts. It also provides a great opportunity to bounce ideas off people and get feedback face-to-face, rather than replying on comments or emails that can often be misinterpreted.
Now imagine you had that brochure on your website instead. You can measure exactly how many people viewed the page where it's hosted, and you can collect the contact details of those who download it by using forms. Not only can you measure how many people are engaging with your content, but you're also generating qualified leads when people download it.
People aren’t just watching cat videos and posting selfies on social media these days. Many rely on social networks to discover, research, and educate themselves about a brand before engaging with that organization. For marketers, it’s not enough to just post on your Facebook and Twitter accounts. You must also weave social elements into every aspect of your marketing and create more peer-to-peer sharing opportunities. The more your audience wants to engage with your content, the more likely it is that they will want to share it. This ultimately leads to them becoming a customer. And as an added bonus, they will hopefully influence their friends to become customers, too.
You’ll need to heavily focus on those relationships though–networking with media people, starting lower (like podcasts and radio), connect with journalists, etc. Most importantly, you’ll need to actually do something that could be featured on the news if you hope to use this tactic to drive traffic to your blog. Not an easy feat, but you can get creative!
